Comments from S. Carta:
To recap:
We have to clarify the initial research problem: To me, “The translation of concept or idea through various media may create a change in perception, meaning, or value”. Perhaps we can simplify this and focus on the translation from physical to digital or vice versa. You also need to focus more on one of the 3 (value, perception or meaning). You may argue that: the process of translating a concept (in art) from digital to physical (or vice versa) generates a change in meaning. This change is often lost in the translation and difficult to track, as many artists consider the change of media a natural part of their process. With this research, you can focus on what is lost during this translation of media. The main point of a DFA is to explore a reseach question through your own work. You can use your own work (we need to have a dedicated section about this in the methodology) to explore this.
We also need to have the findingis very clear. What do we want to find out at the end of this research? It seems to be that we are looking for evidence of this part of the work that is somehow lost in the change of media (digital to physical/physical to digital). The findings may be the clear evidence of this submersed part of the work that is usually lost in the process.
This would help artists, designers and scholars to be aware of this work that often goes missing in the artistic practice.
[SC1]This section should contain more of the other studies/current projects etc. addressing your topic of translation of concept. Try to find projects/authors/artists who addressed this point, yet highlighting what is missing in their approach. This should bring us to the importance of your own research.
[SC2]This should go under the “Background” section.
[SC3]This part is very interesting and seems to be the core of your work. Expand it as suggested in the first section.
((((((( Have you considered the tension bt digital and physical media? s. carta )))))))
[SC4]Try to highlight here the importance of this work. Based on what you stated in the other sections (especially the background), why is this work worth doing now? What do we want to find out with this work?
[SC5]We will review these based upon what you will include in the other sections.
[SC6]This can become the methodology.
